What You Need to Know
Depending on the location of a wildfire, firefighting aircraft such as airtankers and water bombers may need to use water from nearby lakes to help fight wildfires. Often, these aircraft arrive without advanced warning.
If you see an aircraft coming in to collect water, please move within 30 metres from the shore so these aircraft can safely resume firefighting efforts. Our aircraft are large and require space to collect water. Interference by people and boats make it harder to do our jobs. Help us by staying out of the way when aircrafts are around.

Did you know? Alberta Wildfire airtankers used 4,465,625 litres of retardant to help fight wildfires in 2017.
